Sal's grocery department competes with large supermarkets. Sal's has its own niche market by selling unique, premium quality, or traditional foods that cannot be easily found in a supermarket or if they can they are offered at Sal's usually at a much lower price.   Sal's is different from larger supermarkets because it providing ready-made foods at the Deli, such as sandwiches and salads as well as a variety of other items. Although large chains have begun to add food service, a fruit and vegetable store has the advantage of generally providing fresher and cheaper foods and a more peaceful shopping environment.
